Up until January of 2011, I was oblivious to the fact that I swung both ways. My only theory of why I was so unclear about who I had been all along is that I'd never considered that possibility for myself before. Before I knew I was bisexual, I didn't have anything against those who chose to identity as a minority sexuality before, it was just never a term I considered or applied to my own life before. Anyways, after...10 months of struggling with self loathing, I finally came to terms with my sexuality and was much happier for it. The day I chose to kick myself out of the closet, at least partially, was actually National Coming Out Day. I chose that day because it was something to commemorate - the fact that there was a day designed for coming out of the proverbial closet. Anyways, moving on, the response I got from those who decided to read my coming out letter (which, pathetically enough, was posted on face book and left for people to read if they so chose) was positive. Of course, probably not everyone read it from personal choice or lack of interest, but that's fine, I cannot make anyone read what they don't want to read. Still haven't come out to my mother figure just yet, but planning on doing so sooner rather than later through a letter. Hoping she doesn't react in an extreme fashion, but she grew up in the generation where lgbtq wasn't exactly welcomed by society with open arms, so who knows. Looking forward to talking to members of the site, and also for getting a sense of community  Aielar |
