Greetings folks! I'm beaming right now , shepping nachus as they say in Yiddish, my older son just called to tell me that he got a gig later this month with his band at a Crescent Street bar where Arcade Fire comes to play sometimes! He's been playing for 11 years, probably responsible for that incessant ringing in my ears, but I don't care... :music:
SO COOL!!!! Music is my life-blood, and I'm sure my blood type is completely different than yours, my friend. How I wish either of my kids had embraced the gift of music! One inherited my love of music but not the gift, the other inherited the gift but not the love. And for you? How cool that he called to share that joy! Rejoice in the knowledge that despite his physical separation, that all-important connection is not lost. SOOO happy for you!
That's great! My oldest joined the marching band her freshman year in high school and has become obsessed with competitions, DCI, and routines. She's also taken piano since kindergarten and oboe since middle school. My youngest was as useless at piano lessons as I was, so I pulled her out in the hopes that she might play with it on her own, as I did. Her main interest seems to be singing, though, and everything becomes a concert. It's so exciting to see our kids show that wild, youthful enthusiasm for things. Jumping into something with both feet for no other reason than we love to do it is something we lose all to often when we grow up. Something to work on bringing back into our lives!
You're so, so right about that, especially with him and his wild red hair; he has such a lust for life (and girls!), and such a love of music, it's a joy to behold!
Mazel tov! Be’erzat Hashem, he will become the next Arcade Fire. They are one of my favorite bands, so if your son got into that same bar where they play, then it must be the same genre. In which case, I’m even more happy for you, because not only is his carrier moving onwards, but he’s making good music. You must be so very proud. I wish him the best of luck.
Mars! Didn't you know all Gingers come from the Red Planet? (just another nod to one of my favorite authors)
Fantastic! Wish him all the best in this I love music myself, so I know how awesome it can be to perform with a band
I can't wait to see him on stage, they'll be wondering who the guy is whose smile is wide enough to swallow his hears! ...and yes Dragonbait, sometimes he does things that make me think he's from another planet...
