    Hi there,

This is my first time back to EC in awhile. I stopped visiting the site because it seemed to center around teenagers. I have no problem with teenagers (I work with them every day), but I'd love to find some adults to talk to! I was so happy to see this forum when I came back!

I'm 27, and I just started coming out about a year and a half ago. It's been a great feeling every time and it's brought me a lot closer to my friends.

If anyone is interested in chatting, I'd like to make some new friends. I don't have very many LGBT friends!

    Welcome back, Adelaida!

The demographic has changed somewhat and we definitely have a space for us "old-timers" LOL.

I hope your coming out adventure is panning out as planned!

Post often, you'll be sure to get a response!

I'm so glad to hear that! The adventure is going well, just a few bumps in the road, but that's to be expected. Thanks!

    Welcome:

Happy Christmas (and if it's not your tradition take it in the spirit it's given).

Wow, 27...ahh, youth...You can see who I am on the WELCOME site..."New to the Forest"...yes, I'm a "bear"...some would say polar or grizzly...not really ito the labels, but they do work as a starting place...I'm more of Ovis variety rather than the Army Navy Store type...not that there's a thing wrong with either.

Love your quote...Not familiar with the song...What's the title.

Oops...gotta run...the last minute stuff needs to get done or I'm cooked

Clever title for your post, seeing as how you're a "bear." Lol. Nice to meet you. The song is "Lovers in a Dangerous Time," by the Barenaked Ladies. It's a throwback to 90s music.

I think 27 is young, but it seems like it's so old compared to everyone else I've met who has come out! That's why I was glad to find this particular forum.

I'm 26 and kind of feel like I'm an odd age relative to my other lgbt acquaintances too.

    Chat away!

That's why I'm glad to find this forum too. I came out as a lesbian at 21, but then when I started living as a transman at 24, I often feel like I hurled myself back in the closet, because of issues of passing and confidentiality, etc.

I feel old too, compared to others I've seen come out. Whenever I'm in a setting with other LGBT people, I feel so old and "traditional" compared to them. I like being funny and quirky, but perhaps in an old-fashioned understated way, and so it's difficult to relate to even individuals in my own age group.

I'd like to make friends with more LGBT individuals too, Adelaida, so it's nice to "meet" you.

Hi from someone in their 30s, welcome back.

P.S. Age is a number. It's all mental.

Hi! I think we can relate too, I'm 27 also and have just started my coming out experience. I agree we face different challenges then our younger friends do.

I'm always willing to try and make a new friend =).

Welcome back! Yeah, the later in life forum is a godsend. I know we are both youngsters compared to many here, but it's so nice to have adult perspectives. Of course, as I am sure you can attest, teens have often taught me some of the most important lessons in life.

  13. Eventually I hope to get the capacity, I am even further up in years

I felt a bit out of place too when I joined, now I see there are quite a few people here around my age or even older.

Shawn here. It seems, like 27 is pretty young to me. I'm 50 (gasp! I can't believe it myself). I see what you mean about teenagers though.

I'm 28, and I'd also love a place to chat with people who are in their late 20's/early 30s.

All I have to say to the teenagers is GET OFF MY LAWN. I knew I was old the minute I got angry at kids using the yard as a cut through to the street behind.

But really, it is so different to come out older than teens. Not better, not worse, just different. The good news is that the reward for all of us, regardless of age, is to be who we are and love who we love!

It's different alright...there are as many challenges, but one has nothing to do with the other...the wounds hurt no less and the joys are just as high...just wish right now I could be more out there as the time draws closer to telling my wife...feeling very antsy...very pent up...will feel better when I go out for a doctor'd appt...see just different
