I found #5 of this actually really important to note. I don't always get along with my parents but I realize more and more that if I am dating the right person their approval would come naturally from that, and not just because they'd see me happy but because I look for the same qualities in an SO that they would want for me in an SO.
I found #5 to be so important as well, a relationship all by itself is never enough, which is why so many open/closeted relationships flounder. A couple is part of a community, they also have a stake in your relationship (whether you like it or not!).
