While cleaning earlier, I stumbled across something given to me last week when I went to Pride. Apparently there is a Labor Day weekend camp in Washington for LGBT men.

No plans of going, unless I win the lottery. Plus I'm not sure that camp would be my thing. Still...it's an interesting idea.

    Hi BMC,

yes I imagine that the expense of that sort of thing, would inhibit many guys who might otherwise want to go. I've found something much more modest to go to at some stage, it's a sort of 'gay revue' act with costumes, dancing etc, and their motto on the website said, "So come over and pay us a visit; the beer's cheap, and so are the boys". Sounds more in keeping with my financial capabilities, also I think that might just be the best advertising slogan I've ever heard...

    Wow, this looks awesome!

I don't know what other people think, but $215 for a three-day event, with food, camping fees, workshops, and other activities included, seems rock bottom cheap (though, of course, beyond the budget for many) to me. Of course, there's airfare for anyone not in the Seattle area, which can get spendy.

I helped organize a similar event in San Diego years ago that was an amazing weekend, and I'd love to go to something like this  Thanks for pointing it out!

Yes, the price does seem reasonable for what one gets. Although I--like many others, I'm sure--have a vacation budget of zero. :icon_sad: Supposedly they have "scholarships" that would result in lower price tag.

Not that I know of, although that would be a good idea.

I like the idea a whole lot, particularly the ability to spend actual time with other gay men with no pressure to drink or having to yell over bar music to talk to someone. Thumbs up to the guys who thought this up.

This sounds wonderful, except for the airfare. I went to a gay camp this past weekend, but it lacks the workshops and more edifying events. I went with friends and we had a hoot. There's hiking trails, cabins, tent sites, bonfires, game night, and a theme for the weekend, line dancing. People were very friendly. I plan on going back in August. You certainly could use it for hooking up or not. The weekend I went on was a "Bear Weekend". Buffalo, Rochester and some of the smaller clubs were represented. This place is just for fun though.
