A few of you have mentioned on some threads that finding a local support group helped. How do you find these groups? I live in a very conservative suburb, but the main city that is nearby is much more open. But I don't know what search terms to use to find local help. I feel super naive in that aspect. so where do I start?

    You can google:
    city lgbt resource
This should come back with centres, I should think.
Or, if you're looking for social groups:
    city lesbian meetup

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll try again.

Join a hook up site and read profiles or different people.
No point asking those that aren't happy in themselves and don't have there complete profile with a decent picture. Then get talking to them and ask them where they have gone for resources or local catch ups including lunch or dinner.
That is how it worked for me, keep trying different hook up sites some a better than others.

I have gotten a lot of good advice from the gay/bi social site I'm on. My profile was very clear that I wasn't looking for hookups, chat, friendship, networking. Still get hit on, which is gratifying, though I often wonder why people say my profile is "hot." Anyway, I've meet people who are closer to my age, similar circumstances, and have been able to talk through a lot of my issues.

I would agree though, "city" lgbt support group, should work. I haven't found one local yet, though my future roommate told me he has a group he goes to, so I might tag along one night.
