It has been brought to my attention that a post I wrote yesterday debating politics, while I intended it to be humorous, was taken with offence. I did not mean any disrespect and I apologise if it was read as such. I understand the post has since been taken down. Sorry again if it caused anyone any problems.
No offense taken or seen here. Homosexual does not equal homogenous. I'm a lot more offended by the notion of some Great Gay Groupthink that we're automatically expected to comply with, and I have yet to see anyone apologize for that, ever.
Did you ever say that out loud? Have you heard how insulting that comes across, accusing people you disagree with as just mindlessly falling into "Great Gay Groupthink"?
I found the whole painting everyone with a broad brush extremely offensive. But, I'm an adult, I didn't comment because I don't want to get into a fight about politics here. ---------- Post added 12th Mar 2015 at 10:52 AM ---------- Well, there are a certain set of assumptions everyone makes about groups, and other members of the groups they are in. When certain members of the group disagree with the "generally held assumptions" it can cause a lot of consternation. Happens in all groups. We have to broaden our minds to accept that the LGBT are of the same mind on all issues. We might agree with the ends, but not the means in some cases. We will disagree on other issues, such as gun control for instance. To me, being able to defend your life with all available means is a basic HUMAN RIGHT. I can be offended, let is slip off my shoulders, and continue on with life. (&&&) We should all be open to the possibility that our opinions are wrong.
