This week my boyfriend and I are going for a first romantic roadtrip. I think as much as anything, I look forward to sitting next to him for hours in a car and talking. I feel happy and at peace when I am with him, in even the simplest moments.
Wonderful! Take this also as an opportunity to observe him in unfamiliar situations, how he acts when things don't go as planned; what beautiful or interesting things he discovers and how he reacts when you notice something you want to share with him. Take this as an opportunity to know him better, the more you know the person you love, the more there is to love.
When I am driving with my partner, I always seem to be holding one hand on the wheel, and the other with my arm across the center console and our fingers interlocked with one another. With quick glances of my eyes towards him, my heart fills with warmth when I see the never ending smile across his face.
While the two of you are on your road trip, enjoy the quiet moments of reflection. I wish I was on a road trip with Thoreau at this moment.
Thank you all for your thoughts and encouragement. We had a wonderful time together on the trip. One of the most memorable experiences was walking through a national park. It was tender and sweat. At one point, as we were walking, I took his hand. We saw people coming down the path, and our first instinct was to let go. But I held on, and said it's okay. We can do this together. While he has been out to himself, and many people for years, he has never shown a public display of affection. We lived. (I thought we would). And no one gave us a frown or discouraging look. I know its a small step, but it feels huge. We learned a lot about eachother, and enjoyed the longer time together. We look forward to another trip soon.

Even if I end up dying alone, never having experienced such closeness, I'm glad that others get to do so.
I was gunna be doing a road trip from Illinois to California and back with my online boyfriend I had at the time. We were going to do it at the end of this month, but he decided online relationships weren't for him last christmas and dumped me. So I really hope you enjoy yourselves and have a great time.
