I have been struggling with the concept of coming out, knowing that I wanted to share my information with one of my friends on the 10th, making sure it was not someone who would not let the cat out of the bag here at home. I reached out to a friend through facebook and shared my "secret" with her. She was incredibly supportive in my move towards living my truth. Thank you all for the constant support and inspiration to live a genuine life.
Congratulations on coming out to your friend IrishJ. I'm glad you could find a trusted friend since you were planning on keeping this out of the divorce/separation process. The friend I was thinking about coming out to yesterday would definitely let the cat out of the bag with a lot of my professional contacts, so I decided to hold off until I see him in person. Since he has other gay friends, I expect he'll be supportive. PS - I like your orientation "crooked, not straight". I found a bent gate carabiner that I use for my keys. It's my secret pride statement
Driving this afternoon I was not sure how crooked would go over and thought that PROUD might be a better status update. I received a message from my friend opening her home to me and offering her love and support through my journey. Such love.
"Bent" might be a better choice since it's a synonym for gay. I'm not sure the offensiveness level though. PROUD works too ride:
Glad to hear that you're reaching out. It is certainly good to have at least a few friends you can trust to not tell everybody everything.
Congratulations Irish. The closest sucks. Take a deep breath of the fresh air outside the Closet. It's so much fresher. #itgetsbetter
