This past week I needed to travel extensively for work - three countries, six cities, multiple flights and a train ride. All I could think about was getting to the end of the week and wrapping my arms around my boyfriend whom was busy himself with monumental events he was dealing with. As each city passed, each meeting completed, each flight landed, the anticipation built more and more just to get to the end of the week. Finally, I landed at 6pm on Friday, walked out from the arrivals, and had goosebumps as my boyfriend pulled his car up in front of the airport to get me, Tonight was a night for us to celebrate. I had told him that I wanted to talk to him and he had news for me as well. After we got home, a quick shower and a fresh set of clothes, we went to one of our favorite restaurants. The weather was spectacular, a bit of a breeze in the air, not a cloud in the sky. We arrived at the restaurant, was greeted warmly by the hostess whom knows us well by now, and showed us to our favorite table on the patio overlooking the marina and boats. My boyfriend was looking forward to order their specialty meatballs, his favorite; and I had a craving for veal. We also ordered a beautiful bottle of Red Tuscany wine and a risotto appetizer to go with it. The wine was delivered and a glass was served for each of us. It tasted extra special tonight. I looked at him and asked if he wanted to go first. He did. And he explained how the court approved his own divorce without a hitch and he was now officially divorced. Without hesitation I asked him, so when are you changing your address on your drivers license? He smiled.(and we actually just did that online this morning). He then wanted to know what my news was. And I told him how the court in my case finally set a date for my divorce to be final, and assuming no last minute issues, will hapen right before Christmas (yes, three years on, probably one of the longest divorce cases out there for those that might have followed my journey). We shared some wine together. Looked at one another. And after some discussion, agreed to a June date for our wedding. This was truly a wonderful night. This is why coming out, and the challenges doing so, is all worth while.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story and congratulations to you and your boyfriend on your June wedding. Your story is a powerful testimonial why coming out and overcoming the associated challenges are worth it.
On the highway That was lovely to hear Congratulations wonderful news ... May you be happy always and forever
That is so sweet. Everything worked so perfectly, haha. Random question, but if you don't mind me asking, what do you do that requires you to travel so often?
Thank you for sharing your inspiring story. It's wonderful that things are moving forward for the both of you.
Nice story; now I hope you earned frequent flyer points on those flights you all those flights weren't just on Easyjet or gasp Ryanair.
hehe, I have more miles than I know what to do with! So, yesterday, he started getting into planning mode. When he suggested he thought it would take and wanted to spend, I got an instant flash back to my first marriage and my emotions began to light up. I quickly contained myself and simply told him - "Whatever you want! I am OK if you make all the decisions" I think I have learned a few lessons......
What a wonderful story! I'm a little verklempt at the moment...or there must be something in my eyes.. Congratulations!! :eusa_clap
