My sister is visiting from overseas and we were able to grab a cup of coffee in between family stuff. We were talking about our marriages when I leaned in and whispered into her ear that I am gay. She said "really?" I then went onto explain that I am not really sure where I fall on the scale, but hetero is out of the question and bisexuality may still be in the running. She honestly could care less, my sharing this with her changes absolutely nothing in our relationship - thank god. I felt pretty confident about this going into this conversation but you never know. It felt so good and natural just to get it off my chest. I cannot wait to have separation/divorce so that I can continue this next step in my life without fear of my raging wife. I am getting closer everyday, one baby step at a time.
That's great, IrishJ. It's so nice when we come out to loved ones and they respond with acceptance and support! So glad for you and happy that you are excited to move ahead with the next chapter of your life! I know a thing or two about the raging spouse as well...it's so good to be free of that. Good for you!
Congratulations IrishJ. Coming out to one's family of origin is the third most stressful (behind coming out to spouse and kids), so well done. You must feel a great sense of relief, especially since she reacted so well. The more people you tell, the better you feel!
