So, just FYI, I joined some meetup groups tonight. They aren't LGBT-oriented (no such thing as those anywhere close to where I live), but they are groups nonetheless. I'm wondering if I'll make any friends through them. I admit that I'm a bit nervous about all this--I haven't actually made friends with anyone in a very long time. But maybe these will help me. So there you go.
I know, right? Stuck in the woods with all those crazy people/animals. A wonder he can stay as upbeat as he is PC
This is a great move It will stretch you and widen your social circles and eventually some LGBT people will come along like magnets just wait and see
Where are these magnetic LGBT people and how do I get myself one?? But seriously, good going crazydog15! I've also recently joined a meetup which was actually initially advertised as for women only but didn't turn out that way but everyone is so nice. And while I don't think any of them currently will become an actual friend, it's great having that weekly good time to look forward to. The people who show up keep changing and I'm pretty sure some of the newcomers are gay women. Wishful thinking maybe but odds are the more people there are, some of them have to be, don't they? Haha. Anyways, have fun!
Hi I've just made contact with a local group too! I was advised by a LGBT helpline to contact the group first (nervous like you), it helped, got a friendly response. Maybe you'll start a LGBT meet up group in your area at some point, who knows
