I had to go to a new doctor at the VA yesterday and the extensive intake involved lots of question, of course, about my history. So today, I am starting to track my foods because I found out I was fatter than I need to be, so back to tracking my food and exercise again. I have a follow up in three months so hopefully will have made progress by then. But, the most notable thing was when the NP was asking me about my sexual history and asked me about my contraception. I was trying to form the response in my head so it took me a second, and my answer was, "Well, I have a girlfriend." She smiled and said, "A lot of people do." Not quite earth-shattering, but it just seemed a bit liberating saying it out loud, if that makes any sense.
Very cool!! It's great to have those moments when you can talk about your life and identity in a very normal casual manner. Even if it took s few minutes to form the words. Way to go!
You, afgirl, are today's winner! Please see the front desk for your replica trophy and your complementary gym membership and kale smoothie.
Awesome! Good job, afgirl. I have been doing the exercise and eating healthy thing for a while now. What has worked for me is keeping healthy food I like stocked in the fridge and finding exercise that I kinda enjoy. So for me, that is a fridge full of apples and lots of bicycling. If you find something you can stick with, you'll be successful. Good job at the doc office!
Yes, it was a bit liberating. I just had to share here, because, well....where else am I gong to share it???? About to head out to meet my girl. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!!
Wow that was casual... You must be used to this stuff!! Amazing self confidence and i wish all gay people could come out so casually and easily with such a neutral response as if it wasn't "weird" (like what some straight people consider it today) :icon_wink
