Well my night in a gay bar took some unexpected turns

So, I went to a couple of gay bars last night. I had a feeling it was not necessarily going to be a big gay experience for me because I don't know the bar scene here that well anymore (I'm in my hometown for a visit), and because of a late start I couldn't get out to the bars I thought might be the best. But anyway I went for it, met some fun people, had some laughs, got very drunk. More on that in a minute. I'll share my experience here in case anyone's interested.

So in one of the bars I went to it was very quiet, and I suddenly decided in my drunk state to drunk text a friend I haven't seen or really talked much to in 8 years. He was one of my closest friends a while back, from here (my hometown) and he's gay, and something just made me think of drunk texting him and coming out of the closet. :eek:

I just spilled all this stuff over s long text message... And so I woke up this morning and had a great conversation with him. What a great friend, he was so supportive and kind. He asked me if I want to meet up for lunch, and I'm hoping to do that while I'm here. I feel so much less alone. We've known each other since we were 18, so its different than talking to some of my new lgbt friends.

As for the bars, the first two were super quiet, but I could imagine chilling there with friends. The last was a bit more lively, but more guys than girls. I met a group of people and had some fun hanging out with them but nothing really eventful beyond that. I think another night out, probably to the other bars that I want to check out, is going to be my next plan. Not tonight though. I am wrecked. So. many. drinks.

 

Thanks guys yes I've been doing pain killers, water, coffee...still getting over the effects of the alcohol.

I'm so glad i broke into the gay bar scene, even if it didn't lead to flirtation and so on. It was nice just to feel comfortable and meet people and represent myself as queer. (but I'm looking forward to flirty nights out in the future :icon_bigg)

And I am really happy about reconnecting with my old friend. We even talked about some things that caused us to drift apart, how we've missed each other, how we've changed. Its so nice to get reacquainted with someone I knew at such a formative age.
