Putting people down, the story about Janis Joplin

    A true story, one to reflect on.

    Growing up, the singer Janis Joplin was an ugly ducking. This wore on her when growing up. People in school put her down. There were constant reminders on how "unappealing" she was. This shame process hurt her.

    One friend, in the documentary, (see link below) indicated that Joplin was in constant conflict with her self. My take, hum, wow, can this shaming process have parallels with shame LGBT people feel towards themselves? I think there are parallels.
