After twenty years of knowing that I'm gay, I am out to my immediate family, and I finally, finally, feel like I'm relaxed. Again: I am relaxed. It feels so, so good. I am going to take this moment to just enjoy the quietness of my own mind. I'm not fighting my thoughts. I'm not worrying about them. I'm not anxious. I'm not anything, really. I'm just here, typing. The next step will be to work on patience. Now that my family knows my secret, I want to pour out to them all the heartache and anxiety and anger that I've had to keep bottled up for a couple of decades; I know, though, that they aren't ready for that, at least not yet. They're just starting to get used to the idea that I'm gay and that their preconceived expectations won't be fulfilled the way they thought they would. It's a little frustrating, but I guess I'll be able to deal with it for now. Still, though, I am happy to report that tonight there is peace in my mind.
Congrats! It is indeed liberating! EC is a great place. Without EC it would probably take me another 10 years to come out
congrats! good to hear ur coming out story was a happy one as many are still not accepted..im still in the closet to my parents (tho im sure they suspect yet still throw in the "when ur with a 'man') becuz i kno they wont take it so well, sux but who cares lol im still single for now, but when im not anymore its on!
