So we have a lesbian one. It's only fair....

    Talks with a lisp.
    Musical theatre.
    Effeminate.
    Always in really good shape.
Likes shopping for clothes and other things most guys don't.

    Any others?

I'm bi/pan, but I'm NONE of those things above. I dress like I'm in a 90's grunge band. I have a lot of clothes, but that's more of an accumulation thing....I don't hate shopping, but I only do it when I need to....

What?! I've always heard gay guys were supposed to be friends with lesbians.

Gay guys and gals are definitely friends, but it's always a sort of joke that they clash. It kind of goes with the stereotype that lesbians hate all men, and that's just like a grouping of men, so it won't work out.

Did you ever see the episode of Modern Family where some little kid is picking on the gay couple's kid, and the kid who's being a bully has lesbian moms, and when they find out they're like, "Oh no. Oh great," and are visibly uncomfortable/bracing? Lol. So funny.

I can see the gay/lesbian clash to some degree. The other day I was in a pool with a few women and a ton of kids. All the boys were in the deep end, and all the girls were in the shallows. One woman looked at me and said "Wow, looks like an eighth grade dance." My reply: "I was thinking a gay bar." Lol.

As far as watching Modern Family.... I don't have TV, so I don't watch anything.

When I accepted my sexuality, I thought the stereotype gay guy as portrayed in the media was whom I was supposed to become. As I met others, the more I met the more I realized so many were just like me, and the stereotypes were the exception.

I felt foolish not being more open minded about stereotypes when I was in the closet. It might have helped me come out sooner and diminish my internalized homophobia quicker.

I find it funny how lesbians/queer girls will love menswear and then just start wearing it all the time, while most gay guys will avoid wearing girls clothes unless doing drag specifically even if they love women's fashion.

My experience is that the stereotype is not the norm. With the exception of a higher % seem to like musical theatre, all the stereotype have been blown out the window.

But I love lesbians. I wish all women were lesbians, then there'd be more men for the rest of us (!)

Seriously though, straight women can be tiresome when they want us to become their stereotypical gay best friend that they can go shopping with and talk about boys.:rolle:

We're also expected to know Judy Garland's family tree. I was on a date with a guy once and he was saying that he and his friends were shocked when they met a gay guy who didn't know that Liza Minnelli was Judy Garland's daughter. I was like, "Really? That's crazy!..." (I didn't actually know that either, and I had to look up how to spell her name just now)

Haha! I have never been a potter fan myself. I will admit to being a total muggle. :frowning2: HP is on the lesbian list too, at the very end but still there. I should post that version of this on the lesbian thread.

All gay guys I have met so far have some feminine features. Maybe the way they talk, walk, hobbies, or maybe a slight thing like how they hug or wave. I think femininity is quite common among gay guys whether it is very slight or intense.
