Thread of good things

    So, with one of my little 9yo clients last week, we set timers and raced to see who could write the most good things / things we liked / things we were thankful for. The idea is that she has been stuck noticing the bad things and ignoring the good things, and we need to practice noticing the good things.

    She really enjoyed doing this. I asked her to assign homework for both of us for how long we need to do this for. She assigned me a lot of minutes. I figured I might as well make my lists here, in case anyone else wants to do this, too. I'll copy/paste it and remove anything not appropriate for a 9yo to turn in my homework. :wink:

    So, lists of good things...

    -Free wifi
    -Wonderful coworkers
    -My cats
    -Horses
    -Goats
    -I got to go to school
    -I passed my license exam this year
    -I really like my job
    -I have been doing better with my paperwork lately
    -I have improved at taking my medicine and vitamins like I'm supposed to.
    -I have improved at brushing my teeth consistantly
    -My parents did not reject me when I came out.
    -Dragon Con is coming!
    -Cosplay crafting time with my friend this weekend
    -Serious cosplay progress
    -I'm good at getting deals on groceries
    -Payday!!!
    -I'm going to use this financial stress to get better at managing my money and reducing my debt
    -I have some opportunities to bill for doing paperwork
    -We have interns as of this week! Things that I don't have time to do, I can farm out.
    -Some of my clients are getting adopted very soon.
    -Others of my clients got adopted last month
    -George Takei's facebook posts
    -This forum
    -My therapist
    -My dad doesn't hate me
    -My mom has read some of the books I've sent her
    -My mom learned what LGBT stands for
    -My mom has realized that being a lesbian does not mean I want to have surgery to become male.
    -I'm finally feeling more settled with the label lesbian, rather than bisexual
    -I am really glad that when I look at dating apps for ladies, I realize I'm smiling when I realize that the corners of my mouth are sore. When I would look at dating apps for guys back in the day. My forehead and jaw would get sore from the grimmacing and teeth grinding.
    -I have slept well lately
    -I have not had any bad dreams or crazy dreams lately *knock on wood*
    -My supervisor is for me and does not want to fire me. She's really working hard to rehab what I'm doing.
    -I'm not in trouble for any of my authorization paperwork being expired, and some of my coworkers are
    -I'm glad that I work with like minded people
    -I'm glad that my friends accepted and supported me when Icame out.
    -I'm glad that my friends did not shame me for waiting so long to come out like Iworried they would
    -I'm glad that I'm starting to feel free from religious sex shaming
    -I'm grateful for some hugging friends
    -I'm grateful for amazon prime having the L word.
    -I'm glad I haven't had to use my health insurance very much, even though paying the premium every month is hard, it would be worse if I were in bad health, etc. I'm glad I'm relatively healthy
    -I'm suuuper glad I bought a menstrual cup. Best period ever! Thanks, Lunette, or whichever company Ibought from.
    -I am thankful for having a good deal on my rent.
    -I'm thankful that Iwas able to pay my utility bill this morning.
    -I am thankful for the Buddhify app, which is helping me learn about mindfulness and feel more peaceful.
    -I am thankful that Ido not hate my body like Iused to
    -I am thankful that I have all my body parts and they work.
    -I am thankful for soap
    -I'm thankful that I ambetter at managing my anxiety than I used to be.
    -I am thankful for podcasts
    -I am thankful for podcasts that teach me about managing my ADHD.
    -I am proud that I went to the psychiatrist last month. Yay, self care!
    -I am proud that I am eating healthier than i used to.
    -I am proud that I am cleaning my house more than Iused to and I don't feel embarrased to have friends over.
    -I am thankful that I have friends who come over to my house.
    -I am grateful that I have friends who eat meals with me.

    I should still come do this a little more, lol. But, it helped so far, I think.
