I came out as gay (or maybe bi?) to my wife recently, at age 62 and after nearly 35 years of marriage. We've decided the best step forward at this point is counseling / therapy. We've asked a couple of gay and trans friends to recommend therapists in our community and they gave us their recommendations. We've checked to see who might accept our health insurance, too. So now we have a short list of gay or gay-friendly sexuality / couples / marriage therapists to pick from.

What questions should I / we be asking in the initial phone call or consultation to help us figure out which therapist is most likely the best choice for us?
