My soon to be ex-wife and I are planning to have some sort of divorce / coming out / new beginnings ceremony and social gathering about the time our divorce is finalized at the end of February. The idea came from my therapist last fall and it seemed to me like a good way to formally acknowledge this big change in our lives. She'd heard of the concept but told me she's never had a client actually do it.

I'm thinking there should be some sort of ceremony and found some ideas for both divorce and coming out ceremonies from the Unitarian Universalists that can serve as a starting point.

    Anyone else done this?

FYI, my ex- and I are parting friends and continuing in business together. I came out to her in August.

If anybody would have suggestions, it would be the Unitarians. Just go visit a local branch and ask. They are pretty accommodating people. I have a soft spot in my heart for them.
