So in the middle of preparing myself for my talk with my husband, I get an email from my mom telling me how I need to boycott Highlights and a list of other family magazines that are now going to include LGBT families. Really? I don't need this now.. so normally at this point I would give up on any idea I had of going forward. Not this time, I am not going to allow her attitude to control me. I go to the link she provided and got the address for the mags and posted a comment "Thank GOD finally family mags are acknowledging all families."
And the Boy Scouts announced Monday that they'll now accept trans boys as members. Our business supports many local non-profits by donating to their fundraising auctions. Today we decided to no longer support Young Life, a "Christian" organization that has kicked out leaders when they came out as gay and doesn't welcome gay youth. That attitude doesn't mesh with what I was taught about Christianity in the protestant church I attended regularly as a youth. As those of us on this forum know, families come in all shapes and sizes and sexualities.
