Hi, Attended my first pride parade today... Just like any other parade/festival. If you hate crowds stay away. Did see one very inspiring thing... A blind teenage boy (~15) bumped into me in the crowd. He was obviously gay to me. He was there with his mom. What I wouldn't give to be 15 and gay in this new era. First... Profoundly inspiring. Second... Any problems I face shrank to nothing. I complain about not being able to find guys, complain about the gay spectacle. Nonsense to the challenges that young man conquers everyday. Humbling. Very glad he bumped into me. To you all
Congratulations! I'm glad you went. When you mentioned the blind boy that caused me to wonder if there was a disability pride parade. I Googled it and there is in Chicago and spreading to a few other cities. I hope they become as widespread as gay pride parades.
Excellent Skiff!! In NYC parade too, both spectators and marchers in wheel chairs, with crutches & canes. I was touched that an older woman, perhaps 80, marched with the group in front of us, using a cane. At one point she grew weary and was with us. She lasted a while longer then asked to leave the parade.
