This has been coming for a while, more and more Republicans are coming to realize what is fair and just on this question. First there was Ted Olson, Bush's Solicitor-General, who is still fighting Prop 8 in the courts. Ken Mehlman, former RNC chair, came out of the closet and has funded the Courage Campaign. There's been Laura and Barbara Bush (GWB's wife and daughter), Cindy and Meghan McCain.

Having conservatives on side is almost more important at this point than support from progressive. Though I would say that, being in a conservative party.

Holmes, I think you misunderstood. They are not on board with granting gay marriage, they just think that it's bad business to openly ban it, since it's already illegal anyway. If they pass a an amendment banning it completely, then that'll keep a lot of big businesses out of Minnesota.

Banning gay marriage in our state, and probably others, does damage to more than homosexuals; therefore, it really isn't worth it.
