Foo Fighters have responded to a planned protest by the Westboro Baptist Church.

The controversial church group were picketing the Foo's show in Kansas City, but, ensuring they had the last laugh, Dave Grohl and co surprised the protesters with a comedy song.

Donning redneck beards, wigs and trucker hats, Foo Fighters took to the back of a pick-up truck to sing the specially penned 'Keep It Clean', their ode to same-sex loving.

At the beginning of the video, which you can see below, Dave Grohl sings: I've got a hankering for something, think I'm in the mood for some hot man-muffins.

In a break in the song, Grohl added: "Ladies and gentlemen, God bless America! Land of the free, home of the brave! I don't care if you're black or white or purple or green, whether you're Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady Gaga or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds."

The band were jeered by the Westboro Baptists throughout the performance outside Kansas City's Sprint Centre, but also cheered by a large number of fans watching. The impromptu gig came after the church group, the subject of a number of Louis Theroux documentaries, announced they were going to picket the band's show due to their teaching of "fornication, adultery, idolatry and fags."

This makes me love Foo Fighters even more, it is a brilliant way to counter there protests, plus Dave Grohl is just plain awesome.
