TEACHERS allegedly told bullied children to act “less gay” if they want to end their torment.

In a damning report by Essex County Council, pupils revealed they had been accused of making themselves a target for bullies by choosing to behave or look differently.

As well as criticising their supposed sexuality, teachers reportedly told youngsters to “wear their hair differently” if they wanted to avoid trouble.

The comments have been met with outrage by anti-bullying campaigners and gay and lesbian support groups across the county.

Jordan Newell, 27, the Colchester Labour Party chairman and a member of the Labour Campaign for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Rights, said: “I am incredibly shocked at this report...

Wow...that honestly disgusts me...

I'm sure it's difficult for these teachers who see kids in their class being bullied and there is nothing really they can do for them.

TBH, I was bullied (not for being gay) and the teachers couldn't be everywhere at once to stop it and I wish someone had told me something I could do to not be picked on so much. My goal was just to survive until high school.

and I tell bully teachers "don't be so Adolph Hitler"... and for once, playing the hitler card doesn't mean one automatically loses the arguement.

Teachers like that are what makes people like this my heroes:

Patrick Wolf is a wonderful entertainer, lyricist, performer, singer – Artist. He may come off quite soft and feminine but at 15 he actually sued his school for their views on gay people. They had said that they couldn’t help him with bullying because he was of an ‘effeminate disposition’. So he took them to the European Court of Justice and won, and bought a piano with the money.

If I'm honest, I think people are making to big a deal out of this, don't get me wrong, it is bad and just plain idiotic of them, and I would love to have those teachers lose their jobs, but I mean, teachers have said far worse things to children, including me, on a daily basis, and its no big deal.
And in a way it's not hard to think that will work, but what they don't see is that you can act any way you want, but once you're targeted, nothing will change that.
so basically, yes the teachers are morons, and should get a job more suited to there intelligence, like a petrol jockey, BUT its not as big of deal as they are making it. people are naturally morons, we have to accept that.

Enjoy paying high prices for sub-standard education.

it depends on where in the country you are, but public schools tend to have broader programs, better results, and prepare kids for the real world. Private schools rarely are education centric, as most are based on extreme ideological divides.

my brother has to reducate alot of private school kids who come into the public school sectors because they are far behind in both their educational faculties, and their social skills.

I agree with this. From my own memories of middle school and high school, no matter how much you tried to change, you were already the target and you could do very little to change that.

It's absolutely horrid, but I can't say I'm shocked. I remember many times asking a teacher for help, and having them do absolutely nothing. The system is broken, and no one seems interested in fixing it.
