GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann learned that protesters often come in adorable packages. A video captures the Minnesota congresswoman greeting 8-year-old Elijah and his mom at a signing event for Bachmann's book, "Core of Conviction: My Story," in South Carolina.

The candidate, who is an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage, met her match with the soft-spoken, pint-sized activist. The video shows Bachmann leaning in to listen closely as the youngster whispers, "My mommy's gay, but she doesn't need fixing."

Bachmann bolts back up and manages a "bye bye" as mother and son walk away.

I don't want to upset anyone here..but I didn't like this video. I don't like the idea of using kids to make a point, even if I agree with the point being made. I mean its too much pressure on the little kid....

But I agree with Burns, kids shouldn't be dragged into this. Than again we don't know if the kid was forced into this situation by her mom...but either way... lol

Even then, at 8 years old, his understanding of the situation had to be pretty simplistic.

... or parents teaching their children love, compassion, and humanity?

I would, as a parent, been more scared that bachmann would try to eat the kid... she has that dead, hollow look in her eyes no matter what she is saying that you see in sociopaths and psycopaths.

I'm not sure what I make of this. The kid is 8. I'm not sure how much he knows about what being gay even means. It was funny to see Bachmann's face and how her reaction was just saying bye to the kid. However, I don't like the idea of using kids to make this sort of a point.

It would've been better if the kid's mum told him to glitterbomb her instead of whispering into her ear. He could've gotten her real good, from that close.
