Clearly the dad was homophobic (or at least, phobic about gender stereotypes), and how cool that the older brother stood his ground and validated his younger brother's choices.

At least the little brother has someone who is there for him. Even if he can't change his father's mind about what boys should like, his brother will always be there to tell him it's okay to like what he likes and be who he is. That's more than a lot of kids have and it's really special.
