So I finally took the first steps in creating a GSA at my school. I e-mailed every teacher (very painstakingly, might I add, as my school lacks a faculty list on it's website and I had to actually go to every single department and look up every single teacher on their own..) So hopefully someone will write back saying they'll be an advisor. I'm so proud because last year I was too chicken to do this. Now that I'm completely out, it's wonderful, and I really hope this goes over well!!!!!!

Yay!! Congratulations!! Doing something like that really takes a lot of guts: going against the norm and putting yourself out like that in front of all your teachers to make your school a little more just. That's really cool and you should feel proud.

Congrats! Let's hope all goes well, and you're able to form one. Do you know what your school's opinion is on it, might I ask?

    Thanks guys

My school's opinion...I think it's equally divided. Our principal is pretty closed minded but he doesn't make the final choice. Our district puts emphasis on equality and tolerance, I mean ALOT of emphasis on it, so much that it often does more bad that good. BUT they never emphasise tolerance of homosexuality. It's always tolerance of blacks, tolerance of hispanics, tolerance of sped kids, but never tolerance of the queers. Hah. There's one man that works for our school- I absolutely HATE the man because he's got a huge a chip on his shoulder(like- he'll walk around and be like THE BLACK MAN IS OPPRESSED! THE WHITE DEVIL! etc)-but worst come to worst, he'll be on our side. And as much of a bastard as he is, he has alot of influence in the school. I honestly don't think we'll have much of a problem though...unless our principal pulls a principal and decides to have an open forum on it. (He's a huge fan of community open forums.) But I'm rambling.

Bottom line- it should all work out. I will update if it doesn't.
