    Hi Concerned Parents

I came across a series of YouTube presentations about porn addiction aimed at 10 – 11 year old boys that explains in very simple terms how porn can become addictive, is not representative of the real world, and some steps that you can take to wean your teenager off porn. It is based on current scientific thinking and is not religiously biased, although it is written for a straight audience it’s message is applicable for all sexualities.

I have to say that as a 54 year old I learned something from these educational videos.

Things You Didn't Know About Porn - Part 1 - YouTube
Things You Didn't Know About Porn - Part 2 - YouTube
Things You Didn't Know About Porn - Part 3 - YouTube

I hope you find the information useful and it may help during some of those awkward discussions you know you will have to have but don’t want to have.

If you view the website mentioned in the video description you can find some more detailed technical descriptions of the addiction process and why high speed internet porn is so addictive.

I am not sure I can post a direct link to the site without breaking EC rules because some of the content is aimed at over 18s but if you google "your brain on porn" you will find lots of info on how to "Reboot" and get off the porn addiction. The process may also help with addiction to cream cakes and donuts etc and other naughty but nice things.

i dont think the claim of it being based on current scientifical thinking is at all justified.as it was claimed in the youtube.science is what we do to stop us lying to ourselves it requires applying suitable scientific methods to test the theory .

There is no diagnosis of pornography addiction in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders

.A 2014 released study identified a connection between a subjects religious beliefs and their self perception of pornography addiction. The study's lead author is Case Western Reserve University psychology doctoral student Joshua Grubbs; the study is titled "Transgression as Addiction: Religiosity and Moral Disapproval as Predictors of Perceived Addiction to Pornography" and was published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behaviour. One of the findings of the study is that the results strongly indicate a predilection in religious people to believe they are addicted to pornography regardless of how much they watch or whether it negatively impacts their lives.

I didn't discover porn until I was 16 (when my parents got me a dialup modem for my birthday). Can't imagine what it would have been like having that access earlier.

I think education is very important for todays 'always online' youth.
    Thanks for sharing.

Since it's not a clinical addiction, perhaps it's more of a habit and an "assistance". Some guys I know can't wank without it, but it doesn't seem to negatively affect the rest of their lives. Kind of like using sleeping pills to get to sleep, after a while you start to rely on them.

    Peace be with you.

Funny story - first time I saw any porn-related material... Let's just say that I was maybe 10, and my favorite video games were Sonic the Hedgehog and StarFox. The funny thing is that despite having no sex-ed or anything like that, I still immediately recognized what I was seeing. I think that had more of an affect on me that I ever imagined it would.

Oh, that old demon. I was so totally addicted to masturbation to porn. Once I masturbated all day, came a total of four times, I only stopped due to sheer exhaustion. It eventually got so bad that one day, I actually injured myself. In the end, for my health and sanity, I decided to learn how to have sexual pleasure and even mild orgasmic pleasure, but without ejaculation. It's this Taoist tantric practice where at the brink of orgasm, you stop and draw the pleasure up the spine, into the head. Anyway, it is the ONLY thing that has actually worked. Because, what we are really addicted to is not the porn, it is the blast of neurochemicals that gets released when we ejaculate. This is the real hook here. I'm not saying folks can't heal their addiction without learning what I have learned, but I testify here that for me, absolutely nothing else worked, I tried heaps of things. I had to really learn about and work at the tantric method for over a year (and while it was challenging, it was a lot of fun also), but truly I feel so much more at peace now. I love sex / masturbation, have no shame about it, and am free to do it whenever I wish, but I don't feel enslaved by it anymore, I don't feel that endless compulsion to be at it all of the time, as I once used to.

the first time I masturbated was when I was like 6 or 7

I didn't even really know what I was doing until I was like 10 when I found via wikipedia, a few weeks afterwards I started viewing porn while doing it which makes it waaaaay better, though sometimes I still do it without porn

Many children are accessing online porn from the age of 10 years old now so education is a good idea.
