I'm 18 and I have ED. It started showing up last summer, and it wasn't bad. But now it's full blown ED. I can get it up when I have sex, but I have a hard time keeping it up. When I try to masturbate, I can't get an erection under any circumstances. I can't believe I'm going to be an 18 year old taking Cialis every day. :tears:
I used to take Prozac, and I've been off it for three months now, and my erections are starting to come back, but are still mediocre at best.
sorry i only ask because it's a viable cause for your problem. perhaps, as you say, the side effects are wearing off. i know it is frustrating nonethelss, but know that if medication is behind all this, it should hopefully subside just as easily. this is coming from someone who's had a drastic increase followed by drastic decrease in libido in the space of a few weeks (also ssri), it's bloody annoying. that said, this is only one possible cause.
It does take a bit of time for Prozac to clear your system but 3 months is more than enough time to be sure that the problem is not the Prozac. Are your nighttime/morning erections normal or are you having problems getting/staying hard even then?
I've woken up with erections, but it's like as soon as I wake up, it goes down. I do get spontaneous erections every now and then, and (and this is incredibly honest and embarrasing as well) I sprint off to the bathroom to JO because if I don't, I won't be able to get it up later. Could it be my weight? I'm 5'11 and 300.
Ultimately, this is probably something you need to go talk to your dr about. That you apparently are capable of getting erections at times would seem to indicate that the issue is amenable to some type of treatment. Is it possible there is a psychological factor at play here? Something causing you lots of stress or anxiety for example? Todd
The loss of erections upon waking is normal. The important thing is that you are getting them during sleep- this tells us that the equipment works and there's not a "plumbing" issue. Your weight could be a factor. We do know that excess body fat increases estrogen levels and that can cause many men to have performance issues. But, the psychological implications to being overweight and the body image issues are probably more compelling. You should start with your doctor. Your doctor will probably want to check your hormone levels to eliminate low testosterone, diabetes and other conditions like thyroid disorders that can cause erection problems. These same disorders can exacerbate obesity which is another reason that we would want to test for them. Once these physical causes are eliminated, then it would be a good idea for you to start working with a certified personal trainer to take off some of the weight to see if your sexual endurance improves.
