    Hello,

A year ago I was very into anal masturbation (as I had a lot of free time). I did it often. Then I went to the doctor for irrelevant reasons and it turned out I had (don't know how to translate this) calcium on my prostate. That means I've been over prostatitis. But I had never felt anything, never noticed anything. I didn't tell my doctor that I masturbated, and he couldn't give an answer to why my prostate had gone over a prostatitis.

So, after a year or so, I am asking you. Is it possible that I went overboard with masturbation and actually harmed my prostate? I am generally gentle and careful...

    Thank you in advance!

I've heard that masturbation can increase the risk of prostate cancer in men. Just regular masturbation with your penis and not involving the prostate, but I don't think it's been proven.

Sounds quite unusual for someone of your age to have any prostate issues. But listen to your doctor and take his/her advice. I am sure he/she is not interested how it happened but just what to do about it.

Lots of myths too. I had heard masturbation is GOOD for your prostate !!

I don't know much about this, but it seems like it would be highly unlikely that either anal masturbation or anal sex would be the cause of this. Again though, I don't know much about this. This is just what I think, but I'm pretty sure you didn't cause anything like that to happen by anal masturbation or even anal sex. If that was the cause, then I think that there would be a lot more case of this throughout... well history. It's not like doing such things is anything new after all.

That's actually been proven I'm pretty sure.

I think masturbation using the penis should be good for the prostate. There are studies that show that regular ejaculations decreases the chance of prostate cancer. While all the reports I've read in health articles focus on a perspective of having sex regularly, I can't imagine the prostate cares if the ejaculation comes as a result of the guy playing the skin flute.

Keep in mind that masturbation has been accused of causing the craziest problems over the years, including going blind, and growing hair on your palms. Any time I see anything that claims that masturbation causes a problem of any sort, I question that claim thoroughly.

If this was true, everyone would die from prostate cancer. There is no scientific proof of this, unless i am REALLY REALLY wrong.

Masturbation is a healthy practice (unless you are addicted to it, or addicted to porn), if done regularly.

Echoing what others have said--I've always heard regular ejaculation is healthy for the prostate and orgasm offers many emotional benefits and can reduce blood pressure if too high. My first instinct would be to ask the doc what the possible causes are.

I don't think there's any credible evidence that masturbation has any negative effects as far as cancer, and there's some evidence that it (or, more precisely, ejaculation) seems to decrease risks for prostate cancer.

I don't feel qualified to answer the question about anal masturbation and prostatitis, unfortunately. You might search our archives, because I think this question has come up before, and our former medical advisor, KaraBulut, has talked about it, so you can probably find that thread. I'd search both "prostate milking" and "anal masturbation."
