I messed up my right wrist bad. I did it on Easter and I don't know how but Sunday afternoon it was aching and then it was so bad by mid morning today I had to call home because I was unable to write or type. It hurts to put weight on it, it feels like a Charley Horse radiating up my freaking arm. It's not very swollen, I've kept it compressed but shit it hurts. But my mom is like "I'm not paying $25 dollars for the doctor to tell you it's a sprain". Any suggestions on how I treat this? I have frozen peas on it now. Also when I flex my fingers I here popping and clicking. Is that bad? What do I do?
if you are hearing popping and click, it 'could' be a sprain but can also be a dislocation can I ask how you fell or what you did to it? I am no doctor but as a long time sufferer of joint damage and a prior medic I have seen a lot of joint troubles popping and clicking are not a good thing
Keep cold stuff on it and keep trying to move it and then go bed tonight, if it is bad in morning then you should really go doctors >.< You say you dont know how you did it but do you have any idea at all?? Hope you are okay soon ^.^
I think I'd have a talk with your mom, and tell her $25 is not a lot of money to make sure things are OK. It sounds like you must have insurance, as this is a typical co-pay...I can see if you didn't have insurance and then it could cost a fortune, but she's too cheap to dole out $25, even given the symptoms? Maybe you could even pay the $25, if you have it, and it brings you peace of mind. Good luck, and hope things are OK, H. Pup
I am not sure what I did. I think it may have been from putting in my window fan (old heavy windows being help up at awkward angle while right hand puts in bulky fan). That's all I can think that would've done it. I have to retrace my steps for this weekend. I'm going to lay down and hope it stops.
Then it could be a sprain if that is the cause, i cant see that doing anything more severe however i am not a doctor so i dont know~ Like i said, if it is still hurt tomorrow then see a doctor ^.^
My mom is the same way. I told her I need to get my meningitis shot, and she told me she doesn't want to waste $10 in gas to drive me to the health department so they can inject "poison" into me. It's required by law for me to have all my shots before I go to college and the meningitis one is the only one I haven't gotten. It costs over $100 to get the shot after I turn 18, so I'll have to shell that out of my own pocket simply because my mom too anti-vax and cheap. The world we live in...
Charlie, can you have the school nurse look at it tomorrow? Until then do the following: - alternate 20 min ice and 20 min heat (if heat hurts, skip it but don't leave the ice on longer than 20 at a time( - keep your wrist elevated on a pillow or two - if you have an anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen or naproxen, take the recommended dose - don't move your wrist, only wiggle your fingers to maintain sensation Keep us posted.
If the pain radiates up the arm, it could be nerve pain/compression. Strong anti-inflammatories will help.
precisely...it could be a sprain but I am more concerned about a tear or dislocation please do not put any heat on it at the moment
I bruised my tendon they think. So it should fix itself in the meantime i can't write. :/ at least no x-rays.
