I suffer from anxiety. Although it is generally well controlled, i still have my off days here or there. A couple nights ago I had a really bad panic attack, which I havent had in about 7 months. It was hard to breathe, my chest was tight, i felt dizzy and my hands were shaking, which is all normal for my panic attacks. I then had a very small one in the shower yesterday. Although I have medication for it, I dont like to take it unless I absolutely have to.

Anyone else have panic attacks and how do you cope with them?

Chances are if your doctor felt the need to prescribe you medication for your panic attacks, they wouldn't have done this unless you would benefit from them or needed them. I have panic attacks too and have been prescribed medication off and on. In my experience is much rather take the medication than have a panic attack. They are truly horrifying and debilitating.

Another suggestion, although obvious, would be to try relaxation exercises. Meditation and self-awareness exercises. Those can help some people.

    Good luck!
