So I smoked since I was 13 but have stopped since Febuary cus me and my boyfriend managed to quit together. However I do still smoke bud occasionally. Since then when he smoked occasionally I realise that I really don't like the smell of cheap straight on him, I don't mind roll ups. So I was wondering is it a turn off for you guys? Would you date a smoker? (Tobacco and or bud)

I began to smoke heavily around 19 years of age. Before it was just a few isolated times, and it was the typical, "Hey, want a hit?". I run through a pack in 2 or 3 days, but cigarettes are really cheap here in Kentucky, so it isn't as pocket-breaking as it can be, say, up in New England where cigarettes are atrociously priced.

Being a smoker, I cannot fairly hold it against anyone else.

I won't smoke near children, or in an enclosed area with non-smokers or children. It isn't respectful nor considerate of their health. I tend to smoke at home, on my property, or in my car alone. Maybe in a designated break area outside, if or when I am employed.

As for "bud", as you referred to it. I cannot lie. I do enjoy toking from time to time, but never when I have something serious to do, or somewhere important to be. That is just irresponsible and risky. Toking has been more beneficial to me than many previously prescribed medications. In fact, "bud" alleviated a lot of the stress and depression I felt years ago, so in a way, it was a life changer. Like cigarettes though, I won't do it around children, or anyone who doesn't approve.

I'm mindful of others, which is something a lot of smokers could learn to do, especially when I see them blowing smoke in someone's direction, or when they crowd near an entry way.

Not a problem at all. I like the occasional joint, even though the smell makes me nauseous.

I dated a smoker before and it wasn't a problem I guess...it wouldn't be a deal breaker if I really liked the person but I'd choose a non-smoker over a smoker if that was the only difference.

    Unless he's smoking hot, right?

I apologize for that, but you left yourself open. I had to.

I quit smoking cigarettes so I would rather not date a smoker in fear that I would take the habit up again.
I've smoked pot in the past but wasn't a fan and don't like the smell.

I smoked and dipped for about 10 years. I quit smoking 5 years ago and dipping 2 years ago. Best decision ever. Not having to worry about such a pesky crutch really makes your life easier.

I would be hesitant to date somebody who smokes. The occasional cigarette when you are out is OK.

If you ever think about quitting, reading "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr is the way to go. I read it over 3 days, and stopped cold turkey. No withdrawal. Nothing. I was so addicted to nicotine I thought I would never stop and he made it so easy.

I always want to tell my friends but (like I would have) people get very defensive when encouraged to stop. I want them to know that I'm not passing judgment, I just wanted them to know how effortless that book made it.

Nope - wouldn't date a smoker. I don't understand why anyone would take up smoking today. It is terrible for you (and those around you), discolours your teeth, and makes everything smell.

Misinformation about it helping to deal with stresss, peer pressure from friends and family aswell as curiosity tend to be the main reasons and the first two are understandable in my opinion. People don't usually write lists of pros and cons before taking it up :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: it's usually in the moment and then continued use turns into addiction

I would date a smoker, good person is what matters. I smoked for a year and then I quit.. Anyway, I adore the smell... even though a lot of people seem to hate it so much. o.o

Nope, wouldn't date a smoker. It's a major issue for me, right up there with disliking dogs. Unfortunately, it seems everybody smokes pot here. :frowning2:

I would date a 'guilty' smoker...I used to smoke and quit.

I still smoke if someone offers so I would think if my date is a smoker it would get me back to it, something I am definitely not keen on.
