Ok, this feels awkward for me, but here goes. I will probably end up meeting a guy at some stage with whom there will be some mutual attraction, and if the feeling is right, I will possibly kiss his sweet lips. Maybe even go down on the lucky chap. I'm just wondering about a few things. What STD's is one at risk of contracting by doing oral on a guy? The one I'm worried about is Herpes. I've heard that you can contract it just by going down on a guy, is that true? And I've heard that they themselves might not even know they are carrying it. So how does one protect oneself? Surely there must be some way to quickly see if a guy is 'clean' or not just by, er, talking a good look at his goods before taking them into one's mouth? I'm sorry to be so graphic but there's no easy way to ask this...
Well typically with herpes there will be sores on their genitals. However, yes. You can get herpes from oral sex.
Thank you everyone, well whether you meant this or not, I'm getting put off the idea of casual sex. I think I would rather get to know someone a bit, then both of us get tested to make sure we are clean, and only then jump into bed together. I wonder how many gay men are that patient though.
People with herpes can still shed the virus without sores. In fact, they may never exhibit symptoms and not know they have it.
