I was having anal sex with a guy (I was topping) and the condom broke. I didn't ejaculate and I would say I was only in there for about a minute or two. He says he is 100% clean, and as far as I'm know I'm the only person who he's had sex with, and it has always been with a condom. I'm just trying to see if I'm in the clear from getting an STI. I've made an appointment already to get tested, but I'm still worried as the thought of unprotected sex scares me to say the least. From what I've read I'm at a very low risk seeing as I was topping, it didn't last long, I didn't ejaculate, and he's clean. I'm not 100% sure I'm clean, but I've never had unprotected sex so I would say the likelihood of me having anything is quite low. I suppose this was a good wake-up call to go and get tested, but does anyone have any experience with a similar situation?
The risks are quite low, but not zero, so yes, do get tested (as you should regularly in any case). Can you tell us if the condom was within the expiration date?
Well...even Canadian condoms will break from time to time (if you open the wrapper of a Canadian condom, there's a little note printed inside that says "sorry if it breaks!" ) From what you stated above, the risks of anything transmitted are really low, but it is indeed a good spur to get tested regularly.
Supposedly, your sexual partner would be in a (bigger) need to also go through some tests. ---------- Post added 6th Jan 2015 at 06:20 PM ---------- "sorry if it breaks." Is there also a photo of a baby called 'CondomFailure'.
Definitely get tested, if you think there's a risk you can also speak to a medical person about the use of the following - I'm sure everything will be fine (*hug*) Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) | CATIE - Canada's source for HIV and hepatitis C information
I'd get tested, but I wouldn't sweat over it. I'd bet money you'd be fine given the conversation you had with your man.
I'm sure you'll be fine, the chances of getting any STDs let alone HIV are extremely slim given the circumstances. Get tested as a precaution and don't worry too much.
expiration date? are they printed on the individual foils? on the condoms themselves? or do you have to have the original box? I didn't realize that they print expiration dates on condoms. seems like I need to check!
Oh yeah, all of my condoms have expiration dates on them. If you buy from a reputable store, you will certainly see them on the condom.
