I've been thinking this for a while now, it seems as if pornography is too limited. I am quite tired of watching the same old twiggy Caucasian twink with the more muscular top. A lot of straight people exaggerate how there's a variety of porn, but that seems to be lacking for us. I am almost certain that I've browsed through 85% of pornography about my ethnicity that fits my preferences and 50% for other races and such. I feel bad if I see a twink or someone who is skinny/lanky. I wonder why they did it, were they coerced, they look young and fragile. After thinking such things I feel like a bad human being or unclean. As it is, the websites have a deluge of skinny Caucasian bottom with a African-American 'thug' top, rainbow lollipop solos, gay-for-pay/straight but not now videos. Ninja 1: Also, feel free to input your thoughts on the formulaic approach to it. They tend to follow the same template. Ninja 1.5: Does lesbian pornography suffer from these issues? I am aware of lesbians not being the target audience for many of the films, they instead cater to straight males.
In my opinion lesbian porn is a lot worse (And I do watch gay male porn regularly because it tends to have better variety and 'realism' though yes I am aware it isn't perfect). I do see a lot of twinky stuff, but I also have seen ones with two bears together, though they just aren't as common and you have to look for it. Lesbian porn is always femme on femme and usually with straight girls that are bad actors and can't even pretend to enjoy it correctly. It also usually ends up with them being 'cured' by a guy in the middle. Typical straight male fantasy which is why nearly all lesbians avoid lesbian porn for the straight and gay stuff. However, diversity is a problem with porn in general, even the majority of straight porn has problematic things you are describing. It's an issue with the porn industry since porn is fantasy and not supposed to resemble real life.
It's why I only ever watch amateur, homemade porn - at least then I know it's real and not just acting, and it's a lot hotter anyway. Professionally made porn is boring IMO.
Well I haven't really come across this problem, but I'm regularly frustrated with how stupid some of the camera placements are (or how incompetent the camera guy is) I'm just like "F you, if you're showing me shitty angles I don't like, I'm gonna leave and imagine something for myself"
Huh, I have always heard (could be wrong) that most amateur stuff is actually just cleverly staged professionals meant to look like its unprofessional. It certainly seems to be a popular category amongst folks (straight and gay alike) and where there is a buck to be made, someone will be there to make it.
I have a general rule: If the camera moves around often showing many different angles then it's probable that it's staged. I mean if I was going to make a sex-tape with my partner the camera would be in one place while we were fucking. Unless of course I had a friend filming it but yeah, I think that'd be awkward for most(?) Obviously not fool-proof but it's somethin'!
I do not want to make this about race but I just want to say that, in gay porn, if there's an Asian guy in a scene, he MUST be a twink. Ridiculous.
There's definitely a lot of real amateur porn, but there's also a lot of so-called "amateur" that's produced by production companies to look like amateur. Also, it's worth knowing that with a handful of exceptions, the porn industry is very split between the gay side and the straight side, and most companies produce one or the other, and in most cases, ones that try to do both generally suck at whatever isn't their primary focus. And one thing that's definitely true is there's almost no genuine lesbian porn intended for a lesbian audience; nearly all of it is produced by straight porn companies and aimed at straight men. Interestingly, there's a reason for that: In reading some studies recently on sexual arousal, the general pattern (subject to individual exceptions, of course) is that arousal pathways for women are significantly different than men and tend to focus more on connection and touch, while for men it tends to focus more on imagery. One study that looked at this compared erotic romance novels aimed at women vs ones aimed at men; another interviewed people about their porn habits and what they'd like to see. So in general, the porn companies produce what they think their audiences want, their audiences tend to be predominantly male, and few porn companies actually do any real market research... so the patterns tend to repeat themselves. I think there's probably some of the same thing going on in gay porn. Demand is measured entirely by what people are buying (and sometimes, with small companies, by what the company owner personally likes,) and that tends to reduce to the lowest common denominator. Gay porn is overwhelmingly white, young (twink to early 30s), generally very fit (rare are the sites with bears or overweight guys). There are some niche sites that serve other audiences, but they're generally small and often not well done. It's a field that has historically operated in the margins of social acceptance, so there's little of the sort of diversification and market research you see in other fields, even though it's a billion dollar industry. There does seem to be some change, both in social acceptance, and in major companies getting involved, so perhaps we will see more attention to niche markets and interests in the future.
I find it pretty easy to tell between which porn is actually amateur and which porn is staged to look homemade. I'd mention my site of choice but that isn't allowed.
Homemade porn has always struck me as more creative. I don't just fap to it but I am very weird with it. While watching, I always note some of the creative angles and the way some of the people recording are doing it. Adds to the sexiness when you start looking at different shots and many different ways the camera is being used in many different positions. Sometimes the participants hold it in a P.O.V. manner which is lovely. Sometimes they have it on the floor angling upward which is really nice. Sometimes its on a tripod or stationary on a shelf which is ok. But it lacks capturing some of the intensity. People tell me pornography is perversion and lust, I call it art and beauty. Mainly homemade. Helix Studios is coll and all... but they lack vision.
The most surprising thing I've read today was that there are romance novels aimed at men. I typically do not read romance novels, I do read novels with romance in them but I don't look for it. ---------- Post added 13th Jan 2015 at 11:13 PM ---------- I've had this experience, I've only seen two that were buff or beefy. ---------- Post added 13th Jan 2015 at 11:16 PM ---------- I do not mind the realism, I'll die if I don't get chocolate and a fiction book every two days. I do sometimes use my imagination, but I find that I am not able to think of thing well. I attribute it to my virgin Mary status and not knowing how touching feels, I hug people maybe 12 times in a year.
To be fair, the research looked mostly at male erotica (written word, either books or online stories). There are gay romance novels, but a lot more gay erotica, which tends to be raunchier.
Gay porn is boring as hell...ii very rarely seem like the guys are actually enjoying it and after reading that there are so many gay for pay actors it turns you off even more with how fake it is and looks. I'll take straight porn any day over it tbh.
Wha........ Is it any less fake? Doesn't seem like it to me from what I have seen, but I don't exactly watch a particularly large amount of straight pornography.
Lesbian porn is worse. It's all super busty straight girls who enjoy being penetrated by anything. For lesbian porn I definitely prefer the amateur stuff. I can't watch any straight porn, it all just looks like rape to me, even if I know it's consensual. My preference is definitely gay porn even tho I'm a lesbian. I generally find it much more believable and that's what turns me on.
