I'm sorry if my thread is gross, but I don't know who to talk to about it and I'm kinda hypochondriac. My period is ending and no matter what I do, it smells horrible, I'm worried I might have an infection. I have no other symptoms, besides a little cramping. It was the first time I used tampons.

Tampons are stinky. The blood oxidizes and gets really gross, especially towards the end of my period. I used menstrual cups for quite a while--the flow is sealed off, so it's never exposed to air and doesn't smell. I use BC now so I don't have to deal with my periods.

Anyway, I'd just take out the tampon, take a shower (no soap down there, just water!) and use a pad. Bacterial vaginosis can be smelly, and is caused by an overgrow of bad bacteria. It's very common. If the issue persists, get checked out by a doctor.

Thanks... I found out I had forgotten a tampon inside me... I feel very stupid, yet relieved. I don't think I'll be using tampons again... :bang: :eusa_sile

Ah, don't worry, I've done it too. If you don't want to use pads all the time, I strongly suggest you look into menstrual cups. Another plus: no risk of TSS!
