Hello Empty Closets. It's blaziken25 needs help time again!

I am currently on Fluoxetine for my anxiety and it has been amazing in that aspect.
But I goodbye arousal and goodbye orgasms!

Does anyone have this problem? If you're on anti-depressants or other drugs - has it also negatively affected your sex drive?

I never had an exceptionally high one and I have never had sex before but it is frustrating - if you catch my meaning. :bang:

It doesn't bug me too much yet. But what if I get a girlfriend - I'll just say - well; I can't actually orgasm... sorry :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My understanding is that's a very widely recognized side effect of fluoxetine (Prozac). You might consider asking your doctor if you could try another SSRI. They are all different, so others may not work the same, or as well... you might have to try several different ones to find the one that works and doesn't affect your ability to orgasm.

There are actually a lot of health benefits that are unique to orgasm, so not having them isn't such a great idea in terms of your long-term mental health... so you're right to be concerned.

Well just to be clear, do you mean orgasm or ejaculate? As they are separate things by definition. If it really is having an effect as severe as that then I'd ask to get put on an SNRI like duloxetine.

When I was taking Fluoxetine, I did notice a lower drive, yes. Now that I'm on Lexapro, I don't have that problem as much.

I don't have the right parts to ejaculate  So I meant the former.

delayed orgasms are definitely a side effect of anti-depressants. I experienced this, but what it meant was that I could go for much longer, which I found an advantage. but i was still having happy endings, so if you're not that makes it a totally different story. you should definitely tell your doctor so he can see if there might be a different med that will let you have both your sex life back and relief from depression. but it is a common side-effect with those meds.

Well I never had sex but I am slightly worried because I will still be on my pills when I get to that stage. It may be slightly embarrassing.

Umm..yeah, it took me like 4 hours to ejaculate when masturbating. I am on wellbutrin now, and I did NOT have the higher sex drive so many others claim. I can orgasm quicker than on prozac, but they aren't powerful.

It's kind of like - taking ages for not much. Major disappointment :/
It's not too much of a hassle right now - so I won't talk to the doctor yet.

I used to take anti depressants. I forget what kind though. I was having this problem so I went and told my doctor, he added a second pill that reversed the side affect of the anti depressants. I don't take either of the pills anymore but that worked for me. You could tell your doctor if you haven't yet.

Too shy and it will only be a real problem when I go to have sex with someone.

i agree with one of the previous posts; there are lots of different types of antidepressant available...

...if fluoxetine causes this problem for you try a different one. i was in your situation and so tried a lot of different types.

i recommend sertraline as this had least impact on sexual function (for me personally.)

I'm on a different medication and while the arousal is there, it's often a question of which will happen first: the second coming or me coming? It's frustrating as hell but my bf doesn't mind it, especially because when I do finally orgasm it's really intense.
