So... I was talking to someone and he said eating cum is worse/the same odds of getting STDs as anal... is it?
Question has already been answered - read around abit. But overall - no, it's no where near as risky as anal.
BUT oral sex has been linked to mouth/tongue/throat cancer. (You can get HPV which is known to cause/increase the risk of cancer.) (I heard this from a nurse at a safe sex workshop)
It can give you herpes. And a small chance of HIV, if you have cuts/sores in your mouth. http://wso.williams.edu/orgs/peerh/sex/safesex/oralsex.html Better safe than sorry.
Oh and you forgot about the clap (gonorrhea!) Yeah you can get that from swallowing, gives you a nasty sore throat. I saw it on degrassi.
I believe these theories have been dismissed and actually completely reversed; especially for women. It's now believed that swallowing is actually beneficial towards cancer.
Actually, oral-genital contact has been linked to Human Papilloma Viruses (HPV) which play a role in oral cancers. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1619814,00.html
I was speaking more in felatio specific terms - HPV is pretty broard in the ways it can be contracted isn't it?
The thing with HPV is that there are over 100 known types. Some types cause warts on the hands/feet, some cause warts on the genitals and some cause abnormal cell growth that can lead to cancers. There are quite a few people who are HPV carriers who do not have any obvious signs of infection. HPV is transmitted from skin-to-skin contact with an infected person, so all it takes is contact between the penis and the mouth to transmit it. In general terms regarding swallowing cum- cum is no diffierent than any other body fluid. If the person providing the cum has any STD (particularly chlamydia or gonorrhea), they will share it with you through their precum and cum. If the STD is bacterial, you'll end up with a nasty case of sore throat/tonsillitis. Viruses are a little harder to transmit via cum, so the risk of HIV infection is lower for oral than for anal. But keep in mind that some viruses like herpes simplex and HPV are transmitted via the skin contact, not through body fluids.
some people dont find it gross. it all depends on the person. and im not sure about STDs from swallowing cum. but once my health teacher showed the class a picture that had herpies or something in his eye....now how would that happen hmmm ::evil grin::
Well i was going to answer this but i see that Karabulut got here a while ago >.< looks good Karabulut.
Of course it can. Any exchange of bodily fluids and, as others mentioned in terms of two of the viral diseases, even sometimes touching, can give you STDs.
It's true that oral sex is a lesser risk of HIV, however, eating cum can be dangerous namely because of the sti's. Eating cum is still transmission of bodily fluids, and often sti's travel through this, You're best to use condoms or dental dams, that or have your partner get himself tested if your unsure of status (and I'm not talking just about hiv)
