Ok, guys this is REALLY embarrassing for me...but right now I'm in pain...

I'm hoping someone can help me, or give any advice.

OK...you know the area right below your waste line, but right above you butt, I think its called a tale-bone...well it started out as very mild pain and discomfort when I would sit down...now that has esculated alot in the past couple days, and now its beginning to hurt while I'm standing up. I know I didnt give you much information on this, but if you private message me, I could maybe go into more detail..

If anyone has any advice, I'd gladly accept it!

to me it sounds like you could have twisted a vertebrae or slipped a disc in your lower back. Personally, I would go straight to my closest chiropractor. I know a lot of people think they just take your money and they don't work, but they do. I go whenever my back hurts and the relief i get from having it popped and cracked and realigned feels ten times better than any massage and the relief lasts longer as well. If you don't think its just a bruise, go see one. A chiropractor can help.

and fyi...Its tailbone. Not tale. Ones a story. lol.

^^tailbone*---I actually knew that, now I'm Really embarrassed...:frowning2:

Thanks, but do you honestly think its a verterbrae...because when I feel around that area, it feels like something is....I don't know, like "misplaced" or "chipped off"?

    God, I'm so scared now.

I would go see a doctor, it doesn<t sound like you fell and bruised it or something. Go to a doctor...

Chiropractors are fine for the short term, but in general, if you have chronic back pain then a physiotherapist is a much better choice, they can give you tricks to manage and eliminate problems, rather than the "band aid" solution of chiropractors...

^^ This isn't back pain. This is below my wasteline. I think I'll ask my mom if I can miss school, and go see a doctor tomorrow.

And no, I haven't fell down, and there's no physical bruising.

This doesn't sound like chronic back pain though, just like something got twisted. And that can be fixed easily with a chiropractor visit. I don't think anything is misplaced or chopped off or else your back would have been hurting for much longer than this. I think you just twisted it wrong and the vertebrae slipped and twisted a little bit. It can feel funny if that's the case. Don't freak out about it. Pop some advil for the pain and make an appointment with the chiropractor. If he sees something really outta whack, he will refer you to someone who can fix it. They really do work. I've gone to one for years. I have check ups with him just like i do my family doctor.

So it just started randomly? Or was there something that initiated the pain...
    That sounds weird...

to Myra: Thanks for the advice, I'll call a doctor and a chiropractor tomorrow.

to BlakeHarmony: It started Saturday..I think...and at first I thought it was sore because I often "slouch" in my desk chair at school, and sometimes after sitting so long, that area would become sore. So..I thought that was the problem. Now, I'm thinking it's a bit more serious because there's just too much pain, I can hardly sit down...

In that case, I would go see a doctor, see what they say, then, if needed, go to a physiotherapist (much better/cheaper/more effective/healthier in the long run) in stead of popping things back in place so that they can pop back out a physio will give you exercises so it can stay there so you can avoid this in the future...

i still say chiropractor. lol. If it takes more than three visits to fix it, then head elsewhere. Slouching when sitting or sitting to long takes its toll on your back. Which is why chiropractors tell you not too. It gets your back out of alignment. But its usually the neck and upper back that hurts from that.

Have you done any unusual twisting around? maybe even just once? Did you pick up a younger child and turn quickly at the waist?

Whomever you end up going to, make sure you describe exactly what the problem is, how the pain feels, and make sure they understand what you mean.

No, I haven't lifted anything that I couldn't handle or anything out of the ordinary. But, now that you mention it, I DID wake up Saturday morning in an awkward position, and I remember some pain...but I don't think that's what has caused this...

I guess the doctors is your best bet. They could then send you for an x-ray and a specialist.

You do need to make an appointment with your doctor. It is important enough for you to miss school. The doctor will need to examine the area and perhaps run some tests to give you a final diagnosis.

well, when i play the piano for long periods of time i get the same kind of pain your describing. Usually i just try not to slouch and for some reason it feels better... or i'll stretch.

    UPDATE:
Ok, so I went to the chiropractor, and he took an X-ray. It's a pinched nerve. I was kinda relieved when he told me that, because, of course, I was thinking the worse, as in something was wrong with my spine. lol. He tried to massage the area, but I was too sensitive, so he just worked out what he could, and I have to go again tomorrow. Not looking forward to that...
He also started talking about how he was giving me off work and school for a week. Hopefully, I'll feel better in a couple of days as to where I can sit somewhat comfortably in a desk for school.

But, anyways, thanks for all the advice and concerns.

Good to hear everything worked out for you

Maybe 2 months ago, I was outside having a smoke at work. I stand all day, so I wanted to sit (or at least crouch for awhile). So I slid down agianst the wall, and forgot that that water spout hose hookup whatnot was there. Slid down full force and with all my weight onto the pipe and hit my tailbone.

It might be bruised or cracked, I dunno. All I know is that I can't sit for like more than 15 minutes, or I can't get up lol

Now I get to be the embarrassed one
