Hey.. just a little worried about something, wondered if you'd be able to give me any advice.
for about a month/two I've been having problems breathing. At first I presumed it was just because I've got asthma, but it's been getting far worse.
About a month ago, a friend and I saw the 'stop smoking' cabin thing near college, and though it'd be fun to go find out our lung age.. until mine came out at 82. I was a bit worried, but again just presumed it had something to do with the asthma. Since then I've been finding myself more and more breathless doing every day activities, and the last week, just breathing whilst walking around has been a bit of a struggle. Then the past three days I've had a constant pain in my chest, and I've found myself not bothering to talk to people because just having a conversation is causing me to be breathless. Now today I'm finding it difficult to breath just lying in bed.
I'm not particularly unfit, generally I do quite a bit of exercise, so I don't understand what this could be- as well as asthma I've got central sleep apnea, but I don't think either of these have any connection. It doesn't feel like a chest infection either- I've got no cough whatsoever.
Any ideas.. or is it time to go see the dreaded doctor? =/

    You're going to the doctor.

    No question.

No, neither, although I feel like I could be coming down with a cold.
There's nowhere open on a Sunday, so I might go tomorrow.

I see from your post you have alot of questions and the best person to ask would be your GP. I have asthma too but the moment that the inhalers or the medication you are taking isnt working effectively then you do need to see your doctor.

Probably the test that you took was a spirometer evaluation of FEV- forced expiratory volume. If you tested low, that's an indicator that you are not fully exchanging air in and out of your lungs.

You should see your doctor ASAP for a chest xray. You could also benefit from a consult with a lung specialist (pulmonologist) if you aren't already seeing one.

    Thanks everyone.
I've utterly baffled doctors, and they don't know what it is, but they reckon it's stable enough now. They've ruled out the asthma though, and think it's either something to do with my heart, or lungs, and are going to do some tests. Feeling slightly better today now. Thanks for all your advice.
