That is a question that can't really be answered with a quick fix. I mean, this is something you should see a therapist about. Don't worry it isn't that scary! They can walk you through exercises to help boost your self esteem and help stop negative thoughts when they start to infiltrate your mind. Be prepared to work hard and practice what you learn. The time it takes to achieve your goal depends on how hard you work at it. Sebby45
Counseling works been through it for years. The best tip they gave me was journaling every negative thought and then I write a positive against that negative even if I didn't believe it at the time. I still do that today. There are many more tips they give that help, but just talking it out with them helps as well.
Therapy/counselling is where it is at Talking with like minded people who have overcome heir self loathing also helps
I have ridden that horse before, and boy did I ever fall off and hard. Therapy of course is important. But that aside, I've found it helps to first of all isolate what is causing the self loathing and what the roots of the self loathing is. Is a specific person causing it? Is there a specific aspect of yourself that specifically bothers you?
Totally forgot I posted this! Stupid Christmas blues! Anyway THANKS. Bunny - I will give journalling a try. Crossy my darling - HUGGLEPUFFS BACK. Raven - I do know what is causing it - my parents disowned me when I came out in my teens and everything that happened back then comes back and bites me on the... yeah... Most days I think about them every day but I get by because I do have a lovely life with my wife (that rhymed), other days, like every few months and especially bad over Christmas, I get really down and panicky and start to / fully believe the things they believe about me. Anyhoo - ok just now with Christmas finally done - starting back counselling on Monday, wife's orders heehee (aaaarrr). Hugs for all
