Sorry that I've now posted twice in the same forum within about 3 hours

Basically, I've heard that binding can effect skin elasticity which can lead to issues when getting top surgery. If anyone knows - what issues does this cause and how likely/easy is it for it to happen? Do you have to excessively be wearing a binder for 10 years, or can it happen from just wearing a binder approx. 8 hours 6/7 days of the week for 5 years? I guess I'm just quite worried about causing issues in the future that could've been prevented, as I really want top surgery.

    Thanks for any input

From what I've read, binding shouldn't affect your ability to get top surgery. If you've been binding for a number of years it could affect the cosmetic results a little but I don't think it's anything major.

It's mostly if you don't bind correctly.

For example, if you bind for too long at a time (like the people who sleep in their binder) or if you use bandages. But, it's not recommended mostly because it could break your ribs, not because it affects surgery (it does, but that would be the least of your problems).

So, there should be no issue if you just use a real binder and if you use it correctly.
