I've been having them for some time. I've noticed that they happen when I'm eating or drinking fast. It's like a strong hiccough that leaves a horrible pain in my chest, as if my heart were going to explode -it sounds too dramatic, I know, but those seconds of pain are truly unpleasant. After less than a minute the pain goes away and I'm OK again.

I never paid much attention to this, but now I'm starting to worry. Should I see a doctor?

What you're describing sounds like esophageal spasm. You should see a doctor if it is causing you discomfort.

I googled esophageal spasms and from what I read it sounds like an accurate diagnosis. I'd better go and see a doctor -I wanted to ask here first so that he doesn't think I'm a hypochondriac haha.

    Thanks!
