    Can anyone define a third degree burn for me?

    The "degree" system is an old way of classifying burns. A third degree is now known as a full-thickness burn. A full-thickness burn will require a skin graft because the base layer of the skin has been damaged to an extent that the skin will be unable to regenerate itself.
