So, I've started waxing my chest, I'm like a wookie, I can deal with the pain except around my belly button, my God! Does anyone know of anything I can do to dull the pain around there?

With me shaving only lasts a few days. Wax it and I'm good for 2 months.

I'm not a waxing person, but I read in a magazine once that if you take one or two aspirin half an hour before waxing it will help with the pain. Personally I'd just leave it though.

pinch another part of your body while waxing or put the wax on and cause more pain on the area around the waxed area to focus the pain somehwere else.

I heard waxing isn't really good for your skin... especially when people try to wax their eyebrows because it pulls on the skin and when you get older it gets "flabby". Is it really worth it?

You might try shaving or trimming the area down first. I waxed a boyfriend's back once, and he decided he wanted to try doing mine. (I'm a wookiee, too, but proud of it, and prefer to leave it as nature made it.) He trimmed one spot and waxed it (which hurt a fair amount), then decided to try one area without waxing. Not only did it hurt like a mofo, but it actually bled in several spots.

He decided to go back to trimming for the rest of the back. And I never did it again.

You can buy numbing preparations that help. They're usually sold as "sunburn relief" sprays or creams. The active ingredient will usually be one of the "caines" as in benzocaine, lidocaine, etc. Apply it for the recommended time then wash it off and dry the skin before applying the wax.

It doesn't damage the skin however there is always the possibility of damage to the follicle which means that the hair doesn't grow back normally. So, don't wax anything repeatedly unless you're prepared for the possibility that the hair may not grow back and the removal could be permanent.

For body hair, it's not a bad thing however I wouldn't recommend it for eyebrows- except for the area between the two brows (the "unibrow").

I used to use the cream, but I started getting ingrown hairs all over my chest, so that was the end of that.

Do you just wax your chest and stomach or your whole body? wouldnt it look weird with very hairy arms and legs but not a hair on your chest? ;P

I wish I could wax that would be so amazing! Or use hair removal cream but alas I have an allergy to both so I'm stuck with shaving. Which is irritating cause I can never get it completely smooth and as mentioned by malachite it only lasts a day or 2. Oh and ingrown hair sucks too. Boooo
