Just wondering if anyone has had this and can shed some light, i'm going to the docs on mondays but still... basically i've been ill for over a week now, and it doesn't feel like anything else i've had where you feel really shit for a couple of days and then get better slowly, I have a bit of a fever, really fucking huge lymph glands, throat that feels like its full of broken glass and I feel really tired doing just little things, normally I just deal with it til it goes away but this is hanging around and is just as bad as the first day I had it ideas? I feel really lousy, hug me and make me cake?
It could be anything from strep throat to mono to a seasonal virus/flu. But the fact that you've been ill for a week points more toward a viral illness. And since you're not getting better, a trip to the doctor on Monday is good timing.
doubt it's a strep cos its lasted so long, fuck mono, that shit lasts for ages apparently :/ fingers crossed for basic viral infection that can be treated with anti biotics or some thing thanks kb x
No, cake, but how about some cookies? and oh, snap (see what I did there ) - No antibiotics for viral infection!
They'll probably tell you the standard protocols: Rest, drink fluids, etc. They can't give you antibiotics since viruses aren't "alive" in the sense of the word we think of.
Pirate Cake! Feel better :] Maybe you have some version of the flu? Sounds abit like the strain I had last year.... Do you have a cough to?
Yep. He may do a strep screen and mono screen on you. Possibly a complete blood count (CBC). If it's strep, you'll get antibiotiics. If it proves to be a viral infection, you'll be told to eat well, drink well, get rest and take over the counter meds to treat the symptoms.
Hopefully it isn't mono. That can last a while. Been there, done that. My throat was so sore that I couldn't swallow my own spit. I had fevers and just felt horrible if I tried to go to work. A day or so of rest would make me feel better, and I'd go back to the office only to feel absolutely horrible again by noon that day. So back home I would go. I did that for a couple of weeks before my doctor confirmed that it was mono. Then close to 3weeks of rest at home was what allowed me to get over it.
just so yous know, it's just a nasty virus take it easy and rest up is on the menu for the next week or so
