    Hi everyone
I have a big big cold and I wondered if some of you have special tips to cure it sooner.
I can't take medecine because I am alergic in something that is in most cold medecine, so for the time being it's bed, socks and herbal tea.

Chicken Soup! Apparently its got something in it that helps with a cold. Even if it doesnt, it goes down a treat when youre feeling shitty.

Here in North America there is a product called 'ColdFX'. I don't know what it contains, but it gives your immune system a boost. I swear it works. I take two capsules a day, and when I feel a cold coming on I take extra doses - and the cold either retreats, or it isn't very severe.

Once you've got it, you can just drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest.

Personally, I take the over the counter medications that have the decongestants in them so that I don't feel so crappy - but if you can't take those then you're out of luck.

Ground ginger root helps, as does raw garlic. I’ve read (but never attempted myself) that as soon as you feel the onset of a cold if you take a spoonful of hot sauce it kicks it out of you.

I always drink some hot tea with honey because I read somewhere that honey has something in it that helps the symptoms. It could be total BS, but I just enjoy it anyways because it tastes yummy:icon_bigg.

Sorry you're not feeling well, hope you get better soon!

    Thanks everyone
I have never heard about raw garlic, but I might tried that.
I drink a lot of Thym herbal tea with honey and lemon to avoid the dehydratation.
And I have been doing inhalations of hot water with thym to help decongest my nose.
Unfortunatly I can't take decongestants or I'll ended at the hospital for something far worse than a cold.

    Salut!
Last time I had a cold (about two months ago) my throat was sore and Ricola really helped. I'm saying this because you live in France and i'm guessing you can get them there.

The hot tea and honey always soothes your throat, but for me the feeling goes away right after. My bio teacher always told us that you should blow your nose and not to use antihistamine decongestants, which slow down the natural snot factories (unless you need to sleep and it would keep you up). Your body is trying to flush out all that pus and dead mucosal cells out for a reason.

As long as you get plenty of B vitamins and vitamin C, you'll be fine in no time. Half to 1/4 a packet of Emergen-C kicks the melancholy right out of ya; you can be pouring buckets of snot and still feel like conquering the world while driving an ambulance in a Formula 1 race.

I hate taking medicine, so I usually just rely on lots of sleep, lots of fluids (including OJ), and wearing more clothes than is necessary to keep my overall body temperature up.

Echinacea is good for boosting immune systems and its herbal so hopefully you wouldnt be allergic to it.

    My advice:
-Take Sinutab daytime and nighttime pills (if you have clogged congestion in your nasal passages etc)
-Suck on Cepacol throat losenges (they numbe your throat and work well); so does Vicks cream for a sore throat.
    -Eat chicken noodle soup
-Eat oranges (or take Vitamin C tablets)
-Drink peppermint and green teas with a bit of honey and slices of ginger in them
-Drink enough water (fluids are necessary)
    -Buy tissues for nose etc
-SLEEP (get your zzz's! 8-10 hours)
-Rest and don't do too much stressful activity

I think that's it... all those things have worked for me in the past. Get better!

For sore throats you cant beat frozen white grapes. Dunno what it is that does it, but it sure half works!
