Ok, I was not circumcised when I was born. My parents do not beleive in infant circumcision. Three years ago, my foresking start to bother me. It was too tight and when it was retracted it was hard to comeback the normal way. So I finally told my parents, and I went to the doctor [an urologist] and he told me I have something called paraphimosis, and that I HAVE to be circumcised. I'm okay with it, but I'm kind of scared  for how painful it could be. and all that... so I was wondering if some of you had a circumcision as teens or adults and how was the recovery?
I'll be circumcised in about a week... so i'm kind of nervous about it

    thanks
    Nico

  2. I've heard the older you are the more painful it is. I was circumsized as an infant(thank god) and I dont remember it. But now that you're older you might feel some pain although the recovery is fairly easy

I would not worry about the pain during the surgery. I'm sure your doctor is gonna use anesthesia. I have no idea you doctor is gonna put you under local anesthesia or general anesthesia but if general anesthesia, I think you're gonna be sleeping during the surgery and when you wake up everything is done. That's what happened when I had removed my appendix 2 years ago.

As far as for recovery, I have no idea but I think pain is not gonna be last long. They gonna give you some pain killer. But I'm sure you can't mastarbate maybe 2 or 3 week after the surgery.

I think your doctor is gonna explain how is gonna surgery done and answer to your question before the surgery but if you are worried then I suppose you can call your doctor and ask about it.

or even have an erection... it could pop out a few stitches

i knew someone that had it done... he was given the option of just having a minor incision to open the foreskin and he chose the full circumcision...

i dont think he had any regrets... but it was rough for a month or so

    good luck, buddy

Can't you have any of the other treatments listed in the article? 'Cause Circumcision should be used as a last resort I always thought...

Nick, I would be remiss if I said there would be no pain, but it is not bad and what was said about taking your first piss is wrong. There is no expected problem with that as there is nothing done in that area to cause any problem. Read the link Time gave, it is very good.

You will have discoloration and swelling but you will be given meds to control pain. You might also be given other medication for a few days to keep things from getting erect. Even if you should, you will likely not pop a stitch, but it will feel like you will. It will hurt when it happens. In about 10 days or so, things will be better and continue to improve. In the surgical dynamics of healing, from the time of an injury (surgery is an injury on purpose for a reason) to the time of complete healing for soft tissue is 21 days. As long as there is no other injury to the area, this should hold for you.

And once healing takes place, you still might have a bit of discomfort with the glans of the penis. It has been use to having the foreskin around it, now it will not, so has to go through a time when it sort of hardens up or gets use to the rubbing of underware, etc. It likely will be about right when everything else is healed.

Best of wishes and overall, it might not be as bad as you might think.

Anatomically we are all unique so you don't really have to feel the pain that the others feel.

You may try visiting this site for some resources or read this letter from a guy whose circ was done in London. He had had dissolvable stitches (they're made of materials which are broken down in tissue after a period of time), and he states that it was just a little discomfort.

    Wish you good luck!
